Sound

Sound

Sound is the form of energy which produces in us the sensation of hearing.Sound produces due to a vibrating body. Sound is a longitudinal wave which requires a medium for its propagation . It does't propagate through through vaccum.

Wave

The wave is the energy or disturbance which propagates through a medium due to repeated periodic motion ( S.H.M. ) of a particles about their mean position, the disturbance or energy is transferred from particle to particle.

Types of Waves

There are two types of waves on the bassis of requirment of medium for propagation.
1.Mechanial wave
2.Electromagnetic wave

1.Mechanial wave or elastic wave :
The wave which requires a medium for its propagation is called Mechanial wave or elastic wave.
For e.g. sound, ultrsonic etc.

2.Electromagnetic wave :
The wave which doesn't require a medium for its propagation is called Electromagnetic wave. For e.g. X-ray, radiowaves etc.
The electromagnetic wave consist of two mutually perpendicular electric field vector and magnetic field vector which are separatlly perpendicular to the direction of propagation of wave.
